Assessing implementation of prevention and infection control programs in armenian hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic

Aim of the study was to assess current state implementating key aspects infection prevention and control (IPC) in Armenian hospitals, defined by main WHO components, using survey tool IPCAF (Infection Prevention Control Assessment Framework). Materials methods. 113 hospitals were involved study. All participants filled out questionnaire, consisting 8 sections (each rated up 100 points) devoted various IPC aspects. Depending on total final score, programs divided into following categories: advanced (601800 points), intermediate (401600 basic (201400 inadequate (0200 points). The conducted a descriptive analysis overall score as well evaluation relevant core components some selected questions particular interest. Results. 2021 average for all Armenia is 578.07.9 points, which currently regarded an level. At same time, 47 (41.6%) assigned category, 63 (55.7%) category 3 (2.7%) category. Analysis (CC, Core component) revealed that maximum scores obtained CC2 (IPC Guidelines) 80.8 CC8 (Creating safe environment medical premises, materials equipment IPC) 75.5 points CC7 (Workload, staffing number beds) 75.2 points. lowest components: CC4 (Surveillance healthcare-associated infections) with 54.7 CC3 education training) 59.5 Conclusion. Legislative practical changes implemented real world during novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have significantly contributed improved many programs. found useful assessing standards identifying gaps, regardless country economic development In our opinion, re-use institutions should be encouraged, important monitoring trends IPC, proposing individual strategies improvement IPC.
